Olive to launch India’s first HSPA+ Android Phone

Olive Telecom is going to launch India’s first HSPA+ (High Speed Packet Access and technically 4G) phone running Android on February 9.

Arun Khanna, CEO for Olive Telecom, said the company plans to introduce Android 2.2 Froyo based smartphones by March 2011. In India, Android 2.2 Froyo based devices have just started pouring in from major handset makers and many are expected in the coming months. And he invited the press and other members for a conference.
                                             


As per the invite, Olive would be unveiling the first Indian HSPA+ based smartphone. Also Qualcomm’s president for India and South Asia would be present at the event and Olive’s Android based phone may carry Qualcomm’s processor. The specification details of the HSPA+ Android is expected to be as follows,
* The HSPA+ standard offers data connection speeds at up to 14.4Mbps download and 5.76Mbps upload.
* Qualcomm’s 800MHz Scorpion core based MSM7x30 processor or the 1GHz MSM8x55 processor
* Supporting up to 12 megapixel camera
* 720p HD recording if enabled
However, there are very less details on the Olive’s Android device specifications and form factor as of now.
