How to install and Use XRecovery on Xperia X10i for back up, restore or Flash new Roms

What is XRecovery? This is actually an application that is developed by Xda-Dev to Flash custom rom, back up Old Roms and install many other updates.

Features:

It has the following awesome features:
  • ADB root shell
You can ADB root in your Device.
  • Reboot
Rebooting your Device between X recovery and Normal mode becomes very easy.
  • Install update.zip from SD Card
It is a great way to install Updates directly from the SD card. All you have to do is the copy the updates into SD card and Start XRecovery by following the Guide given below.
  • Factory reset (full wipe)
Delete all Data from your Android Device using XRecovery.
  • Wipe cache partition
To remove all cache partition.
  • Install custom zip
As previously explained it can be used to install software in .zip file.
  • Backup and Restore
It can be used to backup the Old Rom and restore that any time.
It can be used as
  • Partition tools
  • Mount/unmount partitions
  • Format partitions
  • Mount as USB Storage
Advanced options
  • Wipe Dalvik cache
  • Wipe battery stats
  • Fix permissions for apps (FC fix)
Moreover you can easily flash any rom to your Phone using XRecovery.

A rooted Android Phone
Busybox installed from the Android Market.

How to install and Use it:

1 .First you need to Root you Phone using this Guide

2. Go to Android Market and Download Busybox.

3. Download XRecovery and install it using this guide.

4. When you install XRecovery you will get a screen like this.


5. Click on Install XRecovery and when you get green good marks instead of Search Pictures.

6. This step is about using the XRecovery, Restart your Android phone, when you get Sony Ericsson on your
Screen, Press the back button several times until a screen like this is shown.


7. After XRecovery is opened, Use the Volume Buttons for up and Down and home button as the selecting button, Back to go back.


8. To install a Package, Copy the file on SD card and go to the install Custom zip on XRecovery and locate the installation package and install it by pressing Home button.

Notes:
Please bear in mind that it’s not the regular android recovery (we cannot replace recovery image without cracked bootloader). Instead, the boot hijacking is used to start recovery mode. You still need basic files on your /system partition to use this. NEVER use the “format /system” option alone (without flashing another system image thereafter).

This recovery is NOT compatibile with Dual Booting for custom roms (for now you can’t have both).
This recovery WILL be used to flash custom roms easily.
DO NOT reinstall busybox. Recovery depends on it’s particular busybox version.
